I want to be able to combine some features of Twitter with my blog. Namely, I want to make it easier for people to follow activity and discussions. One of my blogs has a pretty active comment section, and I thought it'd be nice to let people get a tweet when a new comment is available (easier than refreshing the page to check, MUCH faster than subscribing to the Comment RSS feed).
Thus was born Vikinghammer Tweet.
To set it up, first you have to activate it just like any other plugin. After that, you need to go down to the Settings > VH Tweet menu item to get to the options page.
When you click "VH Tweet," you'll get to the options page. Enter your Twitter credentials and click the "Save" button:
At this point, you're good to go! Whenever anyone publishes a post OR a comment on your blog, a tweet will immediately go out and alert all your followers. (I set up a separate Twitter account for my blog, so my personal account doesn't get filled up with these tweets. I recommend you do the same.)
Links to the posts and comments will be automatically shortened using the Tiny VH shortening service.
